The following information regarding Gopher football game-day may be of interest to you:
The University will play games in TCF Bank Stadium on the following days: September 12, September 19, October 3, October 10, October 31, November 7 and November 14. For more information about opponents and game times please go to www.gophersports.com.
Facilities such as the various University Libraries, Coffman Memorial Union, and the Recreation Center will be open their normal Saturday hours.
If you are traveling to campus on game-days to work, study, workout or meet with friends, your best option will be to travel by foot, bike, or bus. Parking on the East Bank campus will be limited to those with parking contracts and passes. If you intend to drive to campus and you do not have a contract or pass, you will be asked to park on the West Bank or in St. Paul. For more information on your transportation choices, go to www.pts.umn.edu.
If you are one of the 10,000 students who will be attending football games this season you may be interested in becoming a member of the We Are Minnesota Spirit Section. The Spirit Section is your only chance to have reserved, premier seating in the student section. If you are interested, please e-mail sportsmanship@umn.edu for more information.
There is a new Fan Code of Conduct (PDF) which states our expectations for how all fans will behave at all University sporting events, including football, whether those events are on campus or at another venue.
For those who are not going to the games, if you wish to watch them with others you can do so in Coffman Memorial Union, in the St. Paul Student Center, at the McNamara Alumni Center, and in all on-campus housing facilities (however, you must be a resident or a guest in order to gain entrance the building). Even if you do not go to the games or watch them on TV we hope that you will wear Maroon and Gold on game-days to support the team.
Each week there will be a variety of pre-game activities which you can participate in whether you are attending the game or not. These include the Victory Walk and the McNamara Alumni Center Game-day Party which will start three hours prior to every game and will have food and beverages on sale.
Gopher fans will also be able to tailgate in specifically designated surface parking lots on game days if they have a parking space, or are the guest of someone who does. Tailgating is not allowed in parking ramps or in other locations on campus which are not authorized. Tailgating lots will be patrolled by police officers in order to ensure compliance with relevant laws and rules. For more information about tailgating rules, please go to http://stadium.gophersports.com/prk_tailgating.html
Most fraternity events at chapter houses on game day will be limited to members, alumni and their families, and invited guests. These events will be monitored by private security and uninvited individuals will be asked to leave the premises.
